Overview
JDS Designs produces MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) CAD drawings for UK architectural practices and building services consultants, covering the drafting work needed to take a services design from concept layout through to coordinated, construction-ready drawings.
We work from your engineer's design intent — whether that is markups, calculations, or an existing services schedule — and produce clean, properly layered CAD drawings that align with the architectural background and reflect current UK standards, including BS 7671 for electrical installations, relevant CIBSE guidance, and Building Regulations Approved Documents F, L, and P where they apply to services design.

Do you design the MEP systems, or draft to an engineer's specification?
We draft to your engineer's design intent. This service covers the CAD production of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing layouts — not the engineering design or calculations themselves, which remain with your M&E consultant.
Can you coordinate MEP drawings against architectural and structural layouts to check for clashes?
Yes. Where architectural and structural backgrounds are supplied, we overlay the services drawings against them and flag any coordination issues we identify before final issue.
Do you work in Revit for BIM-coordinated projects, or only AutoCAD?
Both. AutoCAD is our default for MEP drafting, but we can work in Revit where a project requires full BIM coordination across disciplines. RVT files are available on request.
Can you produce builder's work in connection drawings alongside the services layouts?
Yes. Where required, we produce drawings showing the openings, chases, and penetrations needed in the structure to accommodate the services design.
